Singapore Travel Diary (Part 2): Sentosa, Universal Studios & Luge Adventure

Hello again! I’m back with the second part of our Singapore travel diary – Day 2!
Today, we headed to Sentosa Island, and unlike the previous day, the weather was absolutely beautiful -perfect for a day at Sentosa.
The main highlight of the day was Universal Studios Singapore, and we were so lucky to have such amazing weather!
So, let’s get started with Day 2 of our Singapore adventure!

I naturally woke up at 6 a.m. today!
I guess the excitement of being on a trip kept waking me up early every morning.
Wanting to make the most of my time, I started the day with a light stretch and a jog.
The Fullerton Hotel is just a street away from Marina Bay, so it was the perfect place to head out for a morning run!
As soon as I stepped out of the hotel and crossed the road,
I was blown away by the view of the Merlion and Marina Bay.

Seeing such a beautiful view made the start of my day feel incredibly joyful.
Just the thought of jogging while taking in that scenery was exciting in itself,
and I truly felt happy as I enjoyed my morning run.

I jogged from the Merlion along Marina Bay all the way to Marina Bay Sands and back –
which came out to about 4 kilometers.
It was the perfect distance to gently wake up my body in the morning.

The whole run was pure joy, and afterward, the refreshing feeling in my body only added to my happiness.
For me, jogging while traveling is honestly the definition of happiness!

After my morning jog, I took a refreshing shower and headed down for breakfast.
Maybe it was because I had exercised, but I was especially hungry – and the food tasted even better because of it!

I chose to sit on the outdoor terrace, but I noticed something interesting:
when people left their food unattended – even just to grab a drink, The birds would swoop in and start pecking at it!
So if you’re dining outside, it’s best to have someone stay at the table to keep an eye on things.

After breakfast, we headed to Sentosa Island, home to Universal Studios Singapore!
While exploring the city, I discovered an interesting fact about Singapore –
at many crosswalks, you have to press a button to trigger the pedestrian signal!

Yesterday, I was just standing at a traffic light, waiting for it to change, but nothing happened.
Turns out, you actually need to press this button for the light to change in your favor.
I looked it up later and learned that if there’s no button, just wait;
but if there is one, you need to press it.

Apparently, this system helps save energy and improve traffic efficiency.
And come to think of it, it makes perfect sense —
if there’s no one crossing, there’s no need to stop the cars.
Such a smart and well-designed system!

We took a taxi to Sentosa Island!
On the way there, we passed by the big “Sentosa” sign — it felt so welcoming that I had to snap a photo of it.

Sentosa is a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation,
and for today, I decided to go with adventure!

We took a taxi and arrived at Universal Studios Singapore in about 15 minutes.
Right at the entrance, there’s the iconic rotating globe with “Universal Studios” written on it -of course, we had to take a photo there!
It was super crowded, so we waited for the perfect moment when no one was in the frame and the letters were clearly visible.
We always carry a tripod with us, which helped us capture the shot at just the right time.
Other people even asked us to take photos for them, and we made sure to get great shots with no people in the background and the logo perfectly visible.
Now, let’s head into Universal Studios!

As soon as we stepped into Universal Studios, it felt like we had entered a movie.
The way they brought films to life and turned them into a fun, immersive theme park was seriously impressive — something we don’t have back in Korea.
I couldn’t help but feel a bit envious of countries that have a Universal Studios!

It also rained on and off throughout the day, but luckily, many areas had large overhead coverings,
so we could still walk around and enjoy the park without getting wet.

I had heard that the rides at Universal Studios usually have really long lines,
but we happened to pass by the Transformers ride – and to our surprise, there was no line!
So of course, we headed there first.

Seeing something from a movie come to life right in front of me – it honestly felt so real.
I used to love Transformers when I was a kid, so the whole moment made me feel like I’d stepped back into my childhood.
With a fluttering heart, I headed further inside.

Apparently, the usual wait time stretches out to 2–3 hours, starting from way outside the building,
but we were lucky – we skipped the outdoor queue and went straight in!
I’m not sure if it’s always like that, but I decided to take it as a stroke of good luck and just enjoy the moment.

As we followed the winding path inside, we finally started waiting in line a bit –
but it couldn’t have been more than 20 minutes.
Even then, there were so many cool things to see along the way that I barely noticed the time passing.
I found myself marveling at everything, and before I knew it, we were at the front of the line!

I had no idea the Transformers ride would be that thrilling!
I’m a huge fan of anything exciting and intense, and this ride totally delivered.
Megatron was attacking us, and the Autobots came to the rescue – it seriously felt like I had stepped right into a movie scene.
With the 3D glasses and the actual motion, it was more like a full-on 4D experience.
I was blown away the entire time!

Right after it ended, my girlfriend said she loved it too, So we ended up riding it two more times! Haha
We even tried sitting in the very front row, and honestly, it made the experience feel even more immersive.
It was hands down one of the best rides I’ve ever been on!

Next, we headed over to ride The Mummy – an indoor roller coaster themed around an angry mummy seeking revenge.
Before getting on, we had to store all our belongings in lockers outside — I guess it’s because the ride is really intense!

The wait time for The Mummy was pretty long – we stood in line for about an hour to an hour and a half.
Unfortunately, there were a few people cutting in line.
They seemed to take advantage of small gaps while groups were talking to sneak ahead,
which was really disappointing.
Everyone else was waiting their turn fairly, so it didn’t feel right.

Finally, after the long wait, it was our turn!
The ride was super dark – at times, we were rushing forward in complete darkness.
Not knowing where we were going made it even more thrilling.
And the mummy figures were so realistic that they actually felt a bit scary! Haha!
That just made the whole experience even more exciting!

There were so many impressive moments I’d love to describe in detail,
but I’ll hold back – I don’t want to spoil anything.
This is one of those rides that’s best enjoyed when you don’t know what’s coming.
Go try it for yourself – the surprise makes it even more fun!

Next, we headed to Far Far Away Castle — Shrek’s castle!
It was beautifully designed like something straight out of a fairytale.
We took some photos in front of the castle and browsed through the souvenir shop.

The Shrek attraction wasn’t really a ride – It felt more like watching a story unfold.
After all the thrilling and active rides, it gave us a chance to slow down and relax for a bit.
It was set up like a movie theater where everyone sits together and watches a 4D story.

If you’re like me and love high-energy rides but also want a short break in between,
I’d definitely recommend visiting Shrek’s castle!

I quenched my thirst with a drink called “Qoo” as I walked along.
This drink used to be sold in Korea when I was younger, but sadly, it was discontinued – you can’t find it there anymore.
So I was thrilled to spot it here in Singapore!
Back then, I remember drinking the peach flavor, but this time, it was white grape juice.

While sipping on the drink, I spotted a Velociraptor in the Jurassic Park area
it moved, and it looked so real, almost like it was alive!
I was seriously impressed by how accurate and immersive everything in Universal Studios was.

After exploring all the different themed zones, we finally left Universal Studios.
With the ground still wet from the occasional rain and the sun setting, the park felt like it was quietly saying goodbye – like the fun was coming to an end.
But that wasn’t the end of our Sentosa day!
We were headed straight for the luge ride!

We hop on the Sentosa Express for one stop and walk around 7 minutes – and there we are at the luge!

Riding the luge in the cool evening air really helped wash away the heat from earlier in the day,
and it was the perfect way to ease the bittersweet feeling of leaving Universal Studios.

Along the luge course, there were cameras set up here and there –
they took action shots of us as we raced down!
You can purchase the photos afterward, and they even offer to send them to your email,
which I thought was super convenient.
I ended up buying one as a keepsake – a fun little memory of the day!

After wrapping up our day on Sentosa Island, we headed to Lau Pa Sat Satay Street(the famous Satay Street) in Singapore!
The whole area was set up like a night market, and the delicious aroma of grilled skewers filled the street, calling out to us.
We didn’t eat there, though – instead, we picked up a takeaway to enjoy back at our hotel, with the beautiful Marina Bay view as our backdrop.

I got to try lamb, beef, chicken, and prawn satay and each one was so flavorful and aromatic.
But the real star was the sauce they served with it.
It tasted like a rich peanut-based sauce, and dipping the satay in it generously made every bite absolutely delicious.

We also had some Korean cup noodles that we brought from home,
and it felt so nostalgic and comforting to have a taste of Korea after a long day.
We enjoyed our meal on the hotel terrace, looking out over Marina Bay – it was such a healing moment.

The satay was so good that I already want to come back just to eat it again.
Next time, I’d love to try it right at Satay Street, sitting among the night market stalls!

We enjoyed our dinner while taking in this beautiful view. Isn’t it stunning?
It’s the kind of scenery you could look at all day without ever getting tired of it.

If I had to sum up today in just three lines:

  1. A morning jog by Marina Bay brought me so much joy.
  2. We had all sorts of adventures on Sentosa Island – from Universal Studios to the luge.
  3. The satay sauce was absolutely delicious!

Thanks so much for reading all the way through again.
I’ll be back soon with the final part of our Singapore travel diary – Part 3.
See you next time, and thanks again. Bye!
