Hello everyone!
Have you ever tried Korean BBQ galbi? Then how about trying galbi hot pot?
If you love Korean galbi, you’ll definitely enjoy galbi hot pot too!
Let’s take a look together!

The restaurant’s name is Jamae Galbi Jeongol (자매갈비전골). It is located in Jeonju. I’ve included a map at the very bottom for the exact location!
If you’re visiting Jeonju to see traditional Korean houses (hanok), I highly recommend this dish for dinner!
A Different Kind of K-Galbi: Simmered in Broth, Not Grilled

This is their quintessential dish: Suje Mulgalbi (galbi hot pot).
The galbi is marinated in a special aged gochujang sauce and simmered with various vegetables.

Once it’s been simmered enough and the meat is fully cooked, it’s ready to enjoy!
Additionally, you can adjust the spiciness to your taste.

To finish the meal, we had fried rice! it’s how most Koreans love to wrap up a meal!
The fried rice had an added umami depth, which made it taste even better!
Summary & My Thoughts
- The water-based galbi jeongol was unique and surprisingly delicious.
- A great choice if you’re looking for a Korean soup dish that isn’t spicy.
- Conveniently located close to Jeonju Hanok Village, making it easy to visit.
Location
This is a very popular restaurant, so expect a line, Especially during peak hours. If you arrive late, they might close early due to selling out!
They are closed on Tuesdays, and there’s a break time from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
I visited on a Saturday at 6 PM and had to wait about an hour.
If you don’t like waiting, I recommend going right after the break time ends!
Thank you for reading my post today. I hope you have a wonderful trip to Jeonju!
The next post is about a trip to Gangneung.
